Are you Raising a Child with Emotional, Behavioral, or Mental Health Challenges?
NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), along with the Family Support Organization (FSO) of Hunterdon/Somerset/Warren, is offering a FREE 7-session course, NAMI Basics, for parents/primary caregivers of youth with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.Topics include stigma, treatments (including the medication dilemma), communication skills, problem solving, self-care, data/record keeping, substance abuse, school systems, mental health systems, juvenile justice system, how to be your childs best advocate, and information on various disorders including childhood onset: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety Disorders (including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder (CD), Schizophrenia.
The course is taught by trained caregivers who have been there.Participants are asked to commit to attend all seven sessions.Pre-registration is required.
